Specialty Food Association Partners with Italy for Winter and Summer Fancy Food Shows

NEW YORK, NY (October 25, 2019) The Specialty Food Association (SFA) announced today that Italy will be their partner country for both the Winter and Summer Fancy Food Shows next year. The Fancy Food Shows are the largest marketplaces for specialty food in North America. Although SFA has often had a partner country for their Summer Shows, this is the first time they are including the Winter event in a partnership.

“We are very privileged that Italy will be the first country to partner with us for both Winter and Summer Shows in 2020,” said Phil Kafarakis, SFA’s president. “The popularity of Italian cuisine in the U.S. is undeniable. Historically, among our dozens of international participants at Fancy Food Shows over the years, Italy has routinely hosted the largest pavilion. At our Summer Show in 2019, the Italian pavilion covered over 24,000 square feet!

Americans love Italian cuisine and Italian specialty foods have played an important historic role in expanding the appetite for global flavors in the United States. Today, even as we see expanding disruption in consumer eating habits, authentic and innovative Italian products continue to be influential across all channels. We’re excited to see what they will be bringing to the 2020 Fancy Food Shows.”

At the Winter Fancy Food Show in January, Italy will host more than 60 companies and their products at their pavilion. They will be a main highlight of the exhibit floor at the show.
“The entire range of authentic Italian products will be on display: cheese, pasta, prosciutto and salumi, olive oil, preserves, condiments, desserts, mineral waters and much more,” said Maurizio Forte, Trade Commissioner and Executive Director for the USA at the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), “Being chosen 2020 country partner by the SFA is an honor: a recognition of the excellence of the products our exhibitors bring to the show and the consolidated alliance between ICE Agency, SFA and Universal Marketing, the exclusive agent for Italy. We look forward to promoting hundreds of authentic ‘Made in Italy’ products to the U.S. market at the Fancy Food Shows.”

The Winter Show will take place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, January 19-21, while the Summer Show will be at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City, June 28-30.

“We’re very proud of this partnership,” adds Donato Cinelli, CEO of Universal Marketing. “Step by step, we’ve seen the growth of Italian business owners, districts and consortiums promoting their products in America. It’s a team effort and we thank our partners at the Specialty Food Association as well as ICE, Federalimentare, Cibus, TuttoFood and Vinitaly, with whom we’ve created a winning team over the years.”

The Winter and Summer Fancy Food Shows are trade only events. Registration for the Winter Fancy Food Show, held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA from January 19-21, is currently open. For more information or to register for the show, please visit specialtyfood.com.
