Rautahat Chief District Officer and a team of technicians inspected the dam destroyed by the Bagmati River in different places of the district today.

A team led by CDO Indra Dev Yadav carried out a feasibility study and directed the technicians’ team to take the initiative to mitigate the destruction caused by disasters at Rajdevi Municipality’s Brahmapur and Basatpur; Durgabagawati Municipality’s Badharwa, Matsari and Gangapipara; and Madhav Narayan Municipality’s Pipararwada, among other places.

CDO Yadav, SP Rabiraj Khadka, APF SP Surya Bahadur Sain Oli, SP from National Investigation Abhinarayan Singh, Chief at Bagmati Lalbakaiya River Control Office Raj Kumar Shreebastav, among others, inspected the places damaged by floods and landslides.

CDO Yadav inspected the areas and directed Shreebastav to take necessary initiatives to end the fear among people. Locals have been spending many sleepless nights due to floods in the Bagmati and Lalbakaiya rivers.

The rivers have also encroached fertile lands every year.

CDO Yadav stressed the need to find a permanent solution after monsoon. “But the immediate task is to control the rivers’ flow and create the feeling of safety among people,” he added.

CDO Yadav said the river control office had to pay attention to the matter. “The authority concerned should have managed the situation before the monsoon starts,” he said. Yadav said locals in Rautahat had been facing problems of encroachment problems every year. “The DAO is ready to offer administrative support to resolve the problems,” he said.
