COVID-19 Situation in Nepal
The deadly virus continues to spread across the country, promoting the Nepali Government to step up efforts to protect people from socioeconomic implications.
Lately, the Nepali Government has decided to continue banking services despite nationwide lockdown to relieve people from financial burden.
The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has issued ‘Bank Service Operation Guideline 2077’ to all the banks to reduce the risk of coronavirus spread while offering banking services.
The guidelines are as follows-
- Maximum of 1/3 employees should work while maintaining minimum physical distance
- Usage of gloves and masks while conducting banking and cash management activities
- Spraying disinfectants while counting money
- Measuring body temperature of every service recipient entering the office with an infrared thermometer
- Every person entering the bank premises should wear a mask
Meanwhile, the Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIBL) has already started providing essential banking services from various branches across the country while maintaining health guidelines.
“Face masks, hand sanitizing, temperature scanning and maintaining physical distancing is mandatory for all those entering the premises,” said NIBL.
The NIBL has also provided ‘COVID-19 medical insurance coverage‘ to all its employees to reassure them during the ongoing uncertain situation.
